It is with heavy hearts that the Charleston, West Virginia Police Department reports the following …  Patrolman Jerry Alan Jones a three year veteran of the Charleston Police Department was killed in the line of duty on 13 September 2009 at 0110 hours. Patrolman Jones was involved in a vehicle pursuit of a violent suspect and died as a result of a single gunshot wound at the conclusion of said incident. He is survived by his wife, parents, and many loving friends and co-workers. 

Patrolman Jerry Jones was shot and killed in the line of duty. Jerry had just celebrated his third year of service to our department. He was 27 years old and had been recently married. We shall cherish Jerry’s memory as a dedicated officer and friend who was very loyal to the Charleston Police Department and the United States of America through his military service.
