Chief Brent Webster
Chief of Police

Brent Webster was appointed as Chief of Police on January 21, 2005.  He joined the department on November 25, 1994 and had been assigned to the Patrol Division, Bike Unit and the Criminal Investigation Division, eventually heading the unit as Chief of Detectives prior to his appointment as Chief.

Captain Perdue joined the department on March 17, 1986.  He is currently in charge of the Investigative Services Bureau.  This bureau includes:

Capt. Flowers started with the Charleston Police Department on October 24, 1983.  He has served in Patrol Division and the Criminal Investigations Division. during that time he assisted the West Virginia State Police Aviation Unit. Prior to being assigned as the Professional Standards Unit Commander, he has served as the Commander of the Street Crimes Unit. and Special Operations Bureau Chief  Commander. Capt. Flowers is a graduate of the 212th F.B.I. National Academy.

Captain White joined the department on August 1, 1979 and is a graduate of WV State University with a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice.  Capt. White's past assignments have included the Patrol Division where he was a Shift Commander.  White was instrumental in founding the department's K-9 unit and is a K-9 MasterTrainer-instructor.  Capt. White currently is heading the Administrative Services Bureau which includes the following:

Captain Williamson joined the department on January 9, 1990 and has been assigned to the Patrol Division, Community Oriented Policing, Horse Mounted Patrol, Criminal Investigation Division and served as the Information Services Division Commander.  The Records, Research and Technology bureau includes:

Lt. Shannon joined the department on October 24, 1983.  He has served in various capacities throughout the department including the Patrol Division, Special Enforcement Unit, Drug Unit, Housing Unit and the Criminal Investigation Division.  Shannon has also commanded the Bike Unit, Community Services Division and currently commands the SWAT Unit.

Cpl. Eggleton joined the department November 25th 1994.  He schedules personnel for special events, such as the 4th of July and other large events requiring police presence.  He also schedules off-duty officers for private functions and contracts.

Terri Lively joined the department on April 16, 2007.  Before becoming a secretary in the Chief's office she served as an Office Assistant with the Clay detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Nancy Toppings joined the department on December 25, 2006.  Before becoming a secretary in the Chief's office she served as a Records Technician in the department's Records Division.

The Chief's Office is located on the 3rd floor of City Hall, 501 Virginia Street East in Charleston, phone (304) 348-6460. Normal office hours for the Chief's Office are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
